To enhance the participatory role of Teletalk to build "Digital
Bangladesh", Teletalk Bangladesh Limited signed a commercial contract
for implementing a project titled "Introduction of 3G Technology and
Expansion of 2.5G Network" at December 27, 2010 in Ministry of Posts
and Telecommunication (MOPT) in presence of Honorable Minister of the
MOPT, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee, Honorable Secretary
of MOPT, His Excellency Ambassador of China Embassy in Bangladesh along
with others officials from MOPT, Teletalk and CMEC.
The contract signed with China National Machinery and Equipment Import & Export Corporation (CMEC) worth of total $211 million as project aid from China EXIM Bank. Under the project, Teletalk will be expanded its network to cater 65 lakhs both 2G and 3G subscribers around the country.
